That's why, at this point, I'd just set him free if need be. I hate to say
this BTW. I still think he could turn into a pretty decent DH. Just can't
happen here. I just hate that they chose to keep him and/or Hinske instead
of Carlos Pena. I know I'm being selfish. He never would have gotten the
chance to play nearly as much here. Still...he would have leapt at the
chance to stay.

Regarding Carlos Pena, as I think that you've previously mentioned, he's
only signed
with the D-rays on a 1 year contract. If by chance, the Sox do not or
cannot
re-sign Mike Lowell, a pretty decent alternative might be to sign Carlos
Pena
for 1B and move Youk back to 3B.

Regarding Wily Mo Pena, I wouldn't cut him. At worst, I'd try to send him
thru
waivers, down to AAA, where he might have a chance to hone his skills. If
he
clears waivers, fine. If another team picks him, fine.
