Well, here it is mid-August and the Tigers are still trying to rise
above that .500 mark. So much for the Tigers having a better
second half of the season.

So, if the Tigers season keeps going this way until the end, do you
think Leyland will be looking for a new job next season?

Who's going to replace him? The pennant looks a bit tarnished now, but
I think it's more that the trading since the almost magic year has
been so backwards. How has Jamie Walker been doing?

Anyone who can turn things around.

It's looking like an impossible dream for the Tigers right now.

The magic number for the Tigers elimination this season is now 29.
That is the combination of Tigers losses and the division leaders
wins for the Tigers to be eliminated. It's looking like that could
happen for the Tigers by as soon as early September.

29 and counting...

There is no need to count it down. While not mathmatically elimated they
have obviously been mailing in games for a couple of weeks now. It's over
and it has been over. Time to look towards next year.

Yes, and it has really been over since the first couple weeks of this
season for the Tigers. They started out as a disaster and have stayed
on that course pretty much the whole season.

I guess the Twins remain the better team, yet again...and they have
been for about the last decade or two. Wink
