Last year with CWS--5.27 era. Year before that with the
Phillies--7.29. This year in 39.2 innings to date--2.50 era. Real
deal or big boom coming in the second half of the season?

Also, do you think SI/CNN could get a picture of him in a White Sox
cap, rather than using the pic in the Phillies cap? He has pitched
over 100 innings as a Sox since the trade over two years ago.

I was wondering who would bring this up.

Was he part of Freddy Garcia or Jim Thome trade or something? Whatever, he
was a #1 draft pick that was a good pick. Ed Wade, maybe?

Hat's off to him, anyhow.

Looks like Gio was traded to the A's and has yet to make his MLB
debut.

Yeah but . . . before we pave the path to the Hall of Fame for Mr
Floyd, it might be nice to see him pitch well longer than a 30 inning
stretch, no? The basic issue is whether the real Gavin Floyd is he of
the Eatonesque ERAs in '06 and '07 or the one who has come close to
two no hitters in '08. Me, I'm still expecting his season to go boom!
at some point this year.

Gio Gonzolez is only 22 years old, so having yet to make his MLB debut is
not necessarily an indictment.
