I Still think the Padres should attempt to acquire a good proven
power hitter. Only problem is would it be worth it to trade younger
talent that might produce in the future?? or should we just stay as is
and hope someone gets hot.

As usual, the Padres perceived lack of power is largely a result of
the Petco effect. Their power number are in the middle of the pack on
the road. Meanwhile, the road ERA is next-to-last in the league. And
we still hear about how the great pitching staff just isn't getting
any support.

I think finding somebody who can play center field, and preferably,
bring something to the table offensively, should be a higher priority
now. If that "something" is power, great, but I'd be as happy with a
table-setter as with a table-clearer.

That's pretty much it. One look at the stas pretty much confirms what
we've been seeing on the field every night. It's the lack of timely
htting at all, not just a power concern. We need a player or two who
can make contact and drive in some runs, not just ground out over and
over again with men on base.

We're also waiting for guys like Geene, Kouz, and Bard to start
hitting up to their potential, and it's very possible that J. Edmonds
is personally bringing the enitre team down from within. We're still
waiting for confirmation on that one. but in the meantime it wouldn't
hurt to have someone in the lineup who can hit a double or two, drive
some RBI's in and get the rest of these players fired the Hell up
already!
