So much for the playoffs

I sighed the other day when our last chance at .500 went away (and I'm
still hoping we can avoid losing 100), but now the season is now just
officially for show -- we've been eliminated from the playoffs.

I take no credit for the following. It's from "Scot" on the
theinsiders.com board: " ... the dream for 2004 officially dies
yesterday. With the Expos loss on Sunday and wins by the Giants and
Padres, the Expos have officially been eliminated from the playoffs.
(they max out at 79 wins now, which means they can't catch the Braves
for the East, as the Braves have alrerady won 84 games. The Giants have
79 wins and the Padres 76, but those 2 teams play each other 6 more
times this year, which means that the LOWEST win total one of those
teams can achieve is 81)."
