Post subject: Need owners for 10-12 team fantasy baseball $$$ league
Archived from groups: rec>sport>baseball>fantasy (more info?)

The league would be run as a FANTASY POINTS HEAD TO HEAD
contest on CBSsportsline with the auction conducted on
www.fantasyauctioneer.com on SUNDAY - APRIL 3RD at 11:00 am
EST. This league combines what we already know about
fantasy baseball and how auctions provide for a more
balanced league and head to head play which is a different
twist. In rotisserie, you can fall far behind in a stat
category and never get out - here you can be 0-9 for a week,
then go 6-3 and 7-2 and be right back in the thick of
things. With 9-11 games every week - we play 180+ games and
it should be fun.

PLEASE LET ME KNOW ASAP if you will be in or out

FRANCHISE FEE of $60 COVERS ALL COSTS - NO MOVES FEES OR
FREE AGENT FEES SO WE CAN EXPERIMENT WITHOUT GOING BROKE!

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1. The league will have to have at least 10 teams committed
to it or the league will not run.

2. The league will use 13 batting and 13 pitching scoring
categories for a head to head format. Each week - your total
points scored will be compared to all other teams in the
league and you will get a Win or a Loss depending on whether
or not you score higher than the other team. In a 10 team
league for example - you will play 9 other teams each week.
Your record for the week may be 9-0 if you are the high
points team, 0-9 if you are the low points team or somewhere
in-between. We will play this format for 23 weeks of the
regular MLB season. In Week 24, the two highest ranked teams
from each division will engage in a week long playoff and in
Week 25, the winners of Week 24 will meet for the
championship.

The statistical categories are:

HITTERS (each)

Single = 1 pt
Double = 2 pts
Triple = 3 pts
Home Run = 4 pts
Walk = 1 pt
Intentional Walk = 1 pt
Hit by Pitch = 1 pt
Sacrifice Fly/Hit = 1 pt
Runs = 1 pt
Runs Batted In = 1 pt
Stolen Base = 2 pts
Caught Stealing = -1 pt
Strikeouts = -1 pt

PITCHERS (each)

Wins = 10 pts
Losses = -5 pts
Holds = 5 pts
Saves = 7 pts
Blown Save = -3 pts
Innings Pitched = 3 pts
Complete Game = 5 pts
Shutout = 5 pts
Stikeout = 1 pt
Earned Run Given Up = -1 pt
Hit Given Up = -1 pt
Home Run Given Up = -1 pt
Walk Given Up = -1 pt

3. Each team will obtain via auction a roster consisting of
25 major league baseball players. The players drafted may
come from either the American or National League. The 25 man
roster will be as follows:

1 Catcher

1 First Baseman

1 Second Baseman

1 Shortstop

1 Third Baseman

3 Outfielders

1 Designated Hitters (any offensive player)

4 Starting Pitchers
3 Relief Pitchers

9 Reserve Players (6 hitters and 3 pitchers)

4. At all times, a team will field 16 active players
according to the positional guidelines in Rule #3. The 9 man
reserve squad is made up of any 6 hitters and any 3 pitchers
and are to serve as replacements for players on the active
squad in case of injuries, poor playing performance, etc.

5. Only those players who are active for any period of time
earn statistics that count towards the standings. Players on
the reserve squad do not earn statistics that count towards
the standings. Pre-season, All-Star and post-season
statistics do not count towards the standings either.

6. The AUCTION will be conducted on
www.fantasyauctioneer.com on Sunday - April 3rd at 11 a.m.
EST. Nomination order will be randomly assigned. There will
be 45-60 seconds allowed between picks and a 20 second clock
on for the bidding - PLEASE VISIT THE SITE IN ADVANCE AND
GET USED TO THE INTERFACE.

All teams will have $260 to sign their 25 players - the
amount bid becomes that players annual salary for 2005. Each
and every year thereafter, players salaries will increase by
10% or $3 whichever is less. You may keep as few or as many
players as you want for future years as long as you remain
under the assigned salary cap. During the year - this cap
will be raised to $300 to allow for signing of free agents
but will be reduced back to the $260 for the start of the
next season.

7. Moves will be allowed as follows:

a. You are allowed to move players back and forth from your
reserve and active squads each week by the Monday deadline
which is 30 minutes before the first game of the day. These
moves are unlimited during the year.

b. You are allowed 10 free agent pickups for the season.
These free agent pickups can occur at any time BUT you must
drop a player from either your active or reserve squad to
make room for them. Free agents must be on a MLB team (they
can be on the DL) BUT they CANNOT be minor league players.
Each team will be given 100 "free agent dollars" - these
dollars having nothing at all to do with the real money part
of the game. They are used only for the purposes of bidding
on free agents. This system then allows for an average bid
of $10 per free agent. You must always spend at least $1 per
free agent and can spend as much as you want. Remember
though - if you spend $20 to "lock up" getting this weeks
best free agent, you will have less leverage as the season
progresses! Free agents will be awarded to those bidding the
highest amount. In case of a tie, the free agent goes to the
team lower in the standings!

c. Trading, which must be judged fair and of benefit to both
teams, can occur as follows:

i. With any team until May 8, 2005

ii. With teams in your 1/2 of the standings until June 25,
2005.

iii. With teams adjacent to you in the standings until
August 20, 2005.

iv. No trading after August 20, 2005.

9. Those are the rules - basic and straight-forward. Now for
the dollars and prizes. The franchise fee for each team is
$60. This fee includes a cost for CBSSportsline and the
Auction site - after paying $160 for these services - all
remaining money goes into the prize pool

The prize pool will be split as follows: (based on 10 teams
- can be adjusted upwards for more teams or changed to distribute
differently - its still open to discussion)

$60 x 10 teams = $600 total
$160 to websites
$440 to distribute to teams

1st Place - $200 (Winner of Championship)

2nd Place - $100 (Loser of Championship)

3rd Place and 4th Place - (Losers of Playoff Week Games) -
$70 each
