I am playing fantasy for the first time. The league I am in has 7
categories for pitcher (w,l, era,k,w,whip, ip) and 7 categories for
hitters (h,w,r,sb,hr,rbi, avg) 9 players in league. if you win one
category, you get a 9. One with all the points wins. 9 position
players including DH, 5 starting pitchers and 2 closers to be started
daily. 6 bench players-any kind.
Is it me but since most regular position players play everyday but
pitchers dont, shouldnt I load up on pitchers so I can start as many
on a daily basis. It would ad to my wins, ip,k just for having more
pitchers starting instead of bench players sitting around.
Am I wrong?
Thanks for the advice

Just because you have alot of pitchers does not mean they are quality
pitchers. If you have a bunch of bums, your ERA, Whip and Loses will
suffer. It is always better to have good pitchers instead of alot of them.
You don't say if you are using one major league or both for your players.
If you are using only one, it will be hard to find more than five starters
who are any good.

plus, most leagues have maximums for pitchers, be it Starts (our
league this year, I thought it was an odd one, ESPN), or Innings
Pitched, which means some time in September, you won't get any stats. >> Stay informed about: newbie strategy question |

No max in my league for any stat and small league with 8 players. Not
sure what you mean by one Major league.

Some leagues play with only the AL or only the NL.
Another factor about having a lot of pitchers -- if you pitch a lot,
you'll have a lot of losses. Thus it will hurt that category. So weak
pitchers hurt WHIP, ERA, losses. Probably not worth just throwing guys. >> Stay informed about: newbie strategy question |

| Related Topics: | General Strategy Question - Last year was my first roto-baseball year after 10 years of head-to-head football. I used a strategy of loading up on pitching, then attacking 3 of the 5 offensive stats - runs, SBs, and average. I ended up doing well (came in 2nd place, fell out of..
Best book/website for newbie - Hello, I'm thinking of getting into fantasy baseball this year. Is there a book or website that you can recommend for a complete novice? Thanks... Mike McGuire
Strategy - Just to get some ideas. In a standard 5x5 league that includes trades and waiver pick-ups. Would it be best to go after hitters or pitchers?
One more "who to keep" question - In this case I can keep up to 5 - I recalculated the salaries to reflect a $260 cap (ours is lower). We are an AL&NL 5x5 (R,RBI,HR,SB,Avg)x(W,S,K,ERA,Whip). We have around 13 teams in the league. Total 23 roster spots per team. Except where noted...
Yet another trade question - Hello all, I'm in a 5x5 no-keeper league. I've been offered Mike Mussina and Mike MacDougal for Javy Lopez and Vladimir Guerrero. Normally I'd turn it down, but I'm worried about Vlad. The deal would nicely round out my starting pitching staff (Randy... |
