Who was MN's mvp last year? Hunter? Guardado?
Who will be this year? I propose whichever wasn't
last year. Either Hunter or Guardado.

neither. hunter is probably only the fifth or sixth most valuable hitter
and guardado is only the third or fourth most valuable pitcher.

i think cases can be made for santana, and maybe even pierzynski given that
he's an "offensive" player at a defensive position.

man, that's a tough question actually, aside from santana (who doesn't even
have enough IP to qualify for the ERA title) or hawkins (who is a setup guy,
possibly the most overlooked players in all of baseball), the twins really
don't have any dominant players. the strength of the team seems to be an
abundance of above average players, especially hitters, relievers, and
bench. shoot, the twins have i think 4 starters who hit .300, none of which
could even get a sniff of the league MVP award, plus a couple more bench
guys (ford and ryan) who are currently well over .300 in limited ABs.

kind of a funny team in that unlike all of the other "for sure" playoff
teams, there hasn't been a single twin seriously discussed for either the cy
young or mvp award. (although to be fair no one's been hyping hudson,
mulder, or foulke for several weeks now.)

Hunter? I assume that's a joke. The Twins' MVP this year, if you're
talking about a postion player, is Shannon Stewart ... probably Jones
or DM if you disqualify Stewart for being with the team half a year.
If you open it up to pitchers, it'd be hard not to mention Santana.
Hawkins is great, but I don't think a set-up man can be a teams most
valuable player.

My vote goes to A.J. A.J. caught all those games after Princey was released
and hit the cover off the ball (a catcher hitting .309???). His defensive
play is sooooo much improved as well. He also seems to have a knack for
settling down pitchers. I think he learned alot from Tom Prince in that
regard.

Honorable mentions in order:
Doug (Best defensive1st baseman in the majors, he complimented that with
solid offensive numbers this season).
LaTroy (One ot the best setup men in the majors, please resign this guy at
all cost Terry).
Johan (Amazing year. Dominating at times. A future 20 game winner methinks).
Jacque (HUGE HUGE game (Two 2 run homers with 2 outs) when the Twins needed
some runs. That game was the turning point IMO).
* Shannon (to be an MVP you pretty much gotta play the whole year with a
club, but you all know by now my feelings about this guy. He simply was the
key ingredient that saved the Twins season).
Eddie (I still get a little nervous watching him but he flat-out gets it
done).
Brad (Simply MONEY down the stretch. This guy shows up when his team needs
him the most).

Without a doubt, Corey Koskie.

Well to be honest I'm just saying that because I live in Manitoba.

I am Canadian too (Toronto here). Koskie would be a good goalie and is a
wonderful 3rd baseman. Maybe MVP in playoffs?

I think I agree with you, in that Shannon Stewart should be the Twins MVP. The
team really took off when he came on board. And his being with the team for
only half a year shouldn't factor into it. It's his impact in such a short time
that is the telling factor.

But brink, Santana did not appear in anything like 40% of the Twins games,
and you seem to be willing to give him MVP!!??

'splain that.
