Leone and Harper connected for their 8th and 2nd HRs, respectively.
Cordido was the only Grizzly to reach base twice, improving his OBP
to .372. The big news for the Grizzlies was that catcher Eliezer
Alfonzo received a 50-game suspension for testing positive for a
performance-enhancing substance. Fuld had his first multi-hit game
this season for the Cubs. He has played three games against Fresno
since missing two weeks.

After allowing 12 ER in his previous two starts, Palmer bounced back
in this start at least in terms of ERA, although he still allowed a
lot of baserunners. Gryboski was the only one of four Grizzly
relievers not to allow a hit. He struck out one batter he faced and
induced a GiDP from the other. Both Palmer and Gryboski still have
ERAs above 6.50. Hinshaw picked up his 3rd save.

Witter connected for his 6th HR to lead off the 3rd inning. After
reaching base in all three plate appearances, his season line is now .
242/.405/.590 through 61 AB. Ishikawa was the other Defender to reach
base twice, bringing his OPS above .600. Klink had his third hat
trick in the past six games, raising his SO/AB ratio to over 41%.

Oseguera made his 2008 season debut on the last day of April. A year
ago he had a 3.54 ERA in 157.2 IP (26 starts) in the Cal League.
Hedrick nearly doubled his season strikeout total, giving him now 9 K
in 12.0 IP. Matos allowed his 3rd ER, giving him a 1.76 ERA for
April. Romo retired all four batters he faced for his 7th save.
Kontos, the Yankees fifth round pick in 2006, made his sixth start.
He had a season low with 3 H and a season high with 7 K, but he still
saw his W-L record drop to 0-3. He also had a season high with 4 BB.

Three more doubles for Sandoval gives him 15 doubles for the month of
April, tying him for the league lead. He finished April with a .
453/.500/.895 line in 86 AB, leading the league in AVG, OBP and SLG,
and SLG by over .200 points. His XBH/H ratio was just shy of 60%.
Sarmiento also had three hits, his second multi-hit game of the year.
He also has four passed balls in a dozen games. In his first game
back from the DL, Graham stole four bases to reclaim the league lead
with 18 SB. Overall, the Giants had a 9/1 SB/CS line in this game.
Halman, the Mariners' 20-year-old from the Netherlands who hit .
307/.371/.597 in the Northwest League last summer, had his 5th HR and
finished April with a .264/.310/.462 line in 106 AB. Officially, the
wind was blowing at 26 mph, left to right.

Pucetas saw his ERA nearly double to 2.12 as he improved his W-L
record to 4-0. He had a 6/2 GO/FO line, and only one of the hits he
allowed was for extra bases. Edlefsen uncharacteristically did not
record a ground ball out, and his ERA crept up to 2.50.

Jordan was the only GreenJacket with multiple hits, raising his AVG
to .242. Davis was the other GreenJacket to reach base three times.
He finished April with both his OBP and SLG below .300, but just
barely with a line of .221/.299/.299 in 77 AB.

Bumgarner had his second straight start with 0 ER, but he did double
his walk total to 6 BB. Among his five starts, the last two starts
have also been his only two starts where he has had both more K than
IP and fewer H than IP. Otero allowed four hits after having not
allowed a hit in his previous five apperances, but he still picked up
his 4th save. The Yankees' 20-year-old Betances, who was limited to
six starts last year after entering the year as their #3 prospect,
suffered his first loss of the season. He has not allowed more than 2
ER in any of his six start. His peripheral stats are 18 H, 21 BB and
41 K in 31.1 IP.
