Timpner's three hits paced the Grizzlies' eleven-hit attack and raised
his AVG to .288. He had his 1st HR of the year, while McClain
connected for his 5th and 6th HRs. Like Timpner, Denker also reached
base three times, giving him a .500 OBP through his first three PCL
games. Schierholtz, who had 10 SB for Fresno last year, already has 7
SB this year.

Pereira had his best start of the year, and statistically by a large
margin. His previous season bests were 5 H, 2 BB, 1 ER, 6 K and 6.1
IP (not all in the same start). The near-shutout improved his ERA to
4.19. He has tended to struggle with his control in the PCL, but he
threw 73 of 97 pitches for strikes today. The Royals' Davies got off
to a strong start this year allowing just 2 ER in his first four
starts, but he has allowed 7 ER in his past two starts.

(scoring 5 runs in both the 1st and 6th innings)

The month of May seems much more agreeable to Copeland. After he had
just 14 hits (.173 AVG) in April, he already has 11 hits (.611 AVG)
through four games in May. He had 3 XBH in April but already has 6
XBH in May as he homered for the second consecutive day. Ishikawa had
three hits for the second straight day to raise his AVG to .238.
Witter reached base four times to improve his OBP to .391. EME
connected for his 2nd HR. The Mets' 19-year-old Fernando Martinez,
who is the youngest player in the upper minors and the Mets' top
prospect, led the the Mets' attack, but he is hitting just .
262/.294/.357 this year through 126 AB. Martinez also had an outfield
assist to throw at a runner at the plate.

Joe Martinez had his second worst start of the year to raise his ERA
to 2.76, but he picked up his first victory of the season. Matos and
Hedrick each pitched two scoreless innings in relief, while combining
for a 0/7 GO/FO line for a game during which the wind was officially
blowing out at 14 mph to right field. Matos now has 16 K in 17.1 IP
and a GO/AO ratio of 0.50.

A+: San Jose lost to Inland Empire 7-0
(allowing six runs through the first three innings)

Downs had one of the Giants' four hits and two of their three walks,
improving his OBP to .362. Bell, who is arguably among the Dodgers
top ten prospects, reached base three times for the second straight
day. After hitting .289/.354/.470 in the Midwest League a year ago,
he is hitting .300/.391/.491 through his first 110 AB in the Cal
League this year.

Tanner had his shortest start of the year and saw his ERA rise to
4.55. He has allowed 16 ER over his last four starts, and today five
of the six hits he allowed went for extra bases. Griffin brought his
ERA below 1.50 with two scoreless innings. The five Giants pitchers
combined for a 13/3 GO/FO line, so most of the action for the
outfielders was chasing down extra base hits.

A-: Augusta defeated Rome 2-1

With two singles, Davis was the only GreenJacket to reach base twice.
It was his third multi-hit game in four games this month. Hitting .
389 over his last ten games, he has raised his AVG to .269.

Calicutt, who is repeating the Sally League, had his best start of the
season. He had pitched more than four innings just once this season,
and this was also his first start without issuing a walk. He improved
his ERA to 2.57.

And he had 2 especially comical errors in CF to go along with the throw.
One was a turn the wrong way compete spin fall down boot.

Truly ugly game for the B-Mets. The starter couldn't fool anyone in the
first inning and Ct. batted around, scoring 5. They sent him back out
for inning #2 and he was no better. Mercifully pulled after one out and
4 more runs.
