Agreed, and it sickens me (NOT!). I do like that the article about the Cubs
and their historical fall from grace comes on the day that the Mets' lead
has completely vanished, and saying the Cubs have had their lead "dwindle"
from 3.5 to 2 games (which incidentally is the largest lead in the National
League).
Gotta feel for the Brewers though. You're 2 games out with 3 to play. Your
rival is going to Cincinnati, a team with the opposite record from the team
you're playing your final games with (71-88 vs 88-71). A 17 game
difference, and the leader in the wild card race. I thought the schedule
was such that you always played your own division for the last couple of
weeks though. How did Milwaukee end up hosting San Diego?
I'm also glad that San Diego's up there. It would be sickening if (like the
American League a couple years ago with Boston and New York) the Phillies
taking the Mets down would only be that the loser of the division race would
be the wild card. Especially since there's no bad part to being the wild
card team. There's not as much of a home field advantage in baseball but
they certainly should have taken a page from the NFL playoffs and had the
wild card go to the best record in the league and have the other two
division winners playing at the #2.
