I'd like to join a league for beginners.
I've always wanted to do it, and this year I made it a new years
resolution. I have been doing some research, and I think a roto
league might be a good starting place.

Any recommendations?

Easy? Forget about that!

Jump in with both feet - do you have any friends? neighbors?
co-workers? classmates? that are in a league? Sure you do, ask around!

Find a local league, hand over your check and show up for the draft.
Depending on how good the folks are, they may help you a lot or feed
you to the wolves - either way, you'll enjoy it. It really is best to
play in a League with at least 1 person that you know. Hopefully,
you'll find an auction and join in a deep league - IMHO, it's more fun
that way. I run a 13 team, NL only League. DEEP!

Personally, I help the new folks in my League. It's no fun having a
weak link on purpose.

Good luck - and post questions here.

Yeah sure, pay lots of money and rely on the kindness of the people
who are taking your money to make help you out. <vbg>

Really, Mark has a great point. If you can find a good group of
people you know and like that is the best situation, even if you are
in over your head. Playing with the same people year after year is
one of the best parts of this game. I don't know how much fun the OP
will have if he pays hundreds of dollars to get his ass kicked, but if
he is okay with that...

When we expand or take a new GM, we have a 2 to 4 week introduction period,
where everyone tries to get to know the GM (online), testing him, showing him
past emails, providing scenarios etc. Then we throw him into the shark tank.

We also have a long list of questions for them to answer before they even
get into the league. We only want serious folk....dedicated sports geeks.
