I presume this is how we managed to have Paul Bako and Fernando Lunar on the
roster.

As of today, Bako and Francoeur have hit the same number of homers this
season. >> Stay informed about: I knew Braves have problem with pitchers, but catchers? |

His hottish streak notwithstanding, i can't fathom why Bako still has a job.
Over the last four seasons he's failed to hit as much as .210 in three of
them, and he has a career BA of .236. I don't recall his defense being
anything special, so what gives?

In Bako's case, he has been terrific for the Reds this year.
Cincinnati picked him up as an emergency backup when starter David
Ross got hurt in the spring and since then, he's got 4 homers and a .
900+ OPS in about 30 games. He's literally been the Reds most
productive hitter this season, if you can believe it. >> Stay informed about: I knew Braves have problem with pitchers, but catchers? |

He has a reputation of being a strong defensive catcher. It seems that if
you are given that label at any point in your career you can be a catcher
until you are at least 40. And you'll catch for the Braves at some point
before you retire!
