Just looking at the boxscore for the game in progress, and at the bottom I
see the following:
ATLANTA PITCHER J-JO-REYES LEFT THE GAME IN THE TOP OF THE THIRD INNING WITH
AN APPARENT BLISTER.
ATLANTA PITCHER BUDDY CARLYLE LEFT THE GAME IN THE TOP OF THE FIFTH INNING
WITH A HEAD INJURY.
What happened with Carlyle, line drive to the head?

From the Sportsline.com GLOG:
"Buddy Carlyle is down and out as he gets run over by Kouzmanoff
charging down the first base line. Carlyle, 6-3, 185 lbs, gets rocked
as he fields a slow roller off of the bat of the Padres 3rd baseman.
Kouzmanoff, 6-1, 210 lbs, attempts to jump out of the way of Carlyle
but runs right into his head. Buddy makes the out, but his day is over
as he woozy from the blow to the head."

saw it happen as i'm sitting home "processing parts". he was blindsided,
kouzmanoff did try to dodge carlyle, but his thigh just smacked him right in
the side of the head. carlyle got up long enough to show the ball, but
collapsed and was holding the back of his neck.

Later in the game either Joe or John said it
was a strained muscle in the left side of
Buddy's neck. Looked like one hell of a hit
in replay. I saw an icedown and a trip to
the Ciropractor in his future. >> Stay informed about: Yet more injuries? |
