14 runs, 29 hits, 1 error in 27 innings against the second best record (and
that's only because we won the series 2-1) in the NL. What is it that Han
Solo says when he comes out of deep freeze? "I go away for a while and
everyone gets ideas of grandeur!" I guess I should go out of town for a
weekend more often. At the very least, Harris (is that his name, the acting
batting coach) can stick around for a while. At least until after the
all-star break Smile.

Seven more and the '62 Mets are secure!

Lenny Harris is the permanent batting coach now. (I'd rather see him
come up to bat than Batista). Paige was named roving minor league
hitting coach.

I hope he has turned a corner, because I couldn't help but think, after the
Post article on him last week (I think), the real slumps hitting came after
he became the hitting coach, and it didn't seem like he had spent the time
and dues to have this important a position. There's a big difference
between being in the big leagues for 20 years and being a coach for one.

But for now, it's a good weekend.
