I was a fan of the black uniforms and I'm kinda sad to see them go.

The other side of that coin is the new uni's are very reminiscent of the
one's worn during the 70's and that look will always seem good to reds fans.

I didn't dislike the black uniforms -- I thought that they looked
rather sharp actually -- it was just that I didn't think that the
primary color of the Reds' uniforms should be anything other than red.

Alas, there would be protest if we tried to call the team the Cincinnati
Blacks. You'll just have to get used to this whole 'red' thing

The 70s? I don't get that vibe at all. My memory of the 70s is the
advent of those tacky, button-less pullovers and sansabelt pants. These
new uniforms look totally oldschool, from the 1930s or so; the new home
outfit should have been modeled by Ray Liotta...

I like the vests better. The Reds remind me of the Brewers as well!

I guess I'm in the minority, but other than the black, I've always
liked the vest look. Maybe because the Big Klu showing off those
guns of his is what I thought a real ballplayer was supposed to look
like.

Huh. I think the striping on the white home jersey reminded me of the
sansabelt look.
Of course having Mr. Red on their shoulder is right out.

I too am a fan of the vests, but then again I'm a bit of a Kluszewski fan
(and collector), and in particular with the red shirts under them - not the
black.

I thought the black was overdone on the hats, too. For me, the only true
Reds cap is the BRM-era all red with white wishbone "C."

I'm not yet sold on the style of script used for the lettering of the names
and numbers. I understand that it's meant to replicate the type of script
that might have been used back in 1869 but it just hasn't (yet) appealed to
me - looks more like something the Dayton Dragons would use. But I'll give
it a chance to grow on me before I pass judgement.

In fact, since they are going with that style of script I think I would
actually prefer the return of the old gothic "C" from the 19th century - not
on the caps or sleeve necessarily but for the front of the gray road
jerseys, for example.

I like the use of Mr Redlegs on the sleeve.

I'm also OK with the abadonment of pinstripes.

I'd also prefer a little more activity on the FA market, but that's a
subject for another thread

The vests with the red shirts and Mr. Red on the sleeve would have been real
sharp. The finally did add the red stripe down the pant leg. That was
needed.

It's a tiffany style lettering. Not too bad. The Cincinnati accross the
front of the road jersey looked a little smaller. I don't like that, at
first glance.

They weren't used properly.
