The Cincinnati Reds are a quadruple A team, where veteran pitchers fallen
from their prime but are too good for AAA try to make their return to the
bigs, and where players who need to face major league pitching for 3 to 4
years before becoming an offensive force find a place to get at bats. Once
you've proven yourself at the AAAA level, you can demand a decent salary and
real major league team will come along and give you one. But don't expect
the Reds to give you one... unless you were born in Cincinnati or grew up in
Cincy, in which case a multi-million dollar, multi-year contract will be
thrown at you.
