Well, we did it..... We saw a great game including a couple of stolen
bases and a runner thrown out at the plate that would have tied the
game up for the Phillies.
I bought my son 2 sets of Expos cards, a program and he enjoyed the $1
hot dogs. I'm still trying to figure out though, how 2 $5 tickets
ended up costing $22. I went online the night before the game to
montrealexpos.com and discovered that there would be a $4.50 per
ticket fee along with an additional $3 Internet ordering fee! What a
bunch of scammers. From what I understand, you still have to pay fees
if you buy tickets at the park. What a joke! Oh well. It's only money
- I just wish they'd advertise the tickets as $11.00 each instead of
the misrepresentative $5.00 each.
BTW, when are they going to stop putting tacky animated chickens on
the scoreboard every time opposing pitchers throw the ball over to 1st
base? Enough is enough......bush league stuff.
Although the game was a lot of fun, I still feel the same way about
the team's fortunes in Montreal. Despite cheap seats, $1.00 hotdogs
and the fact that it was a local holiday, there were still only 11.600
fans in the stands. A "save the Expos" group had a desk in the stadium
collecting signatures for a petition. What nonsense! There's only one
thing that would have saved the team in Montreal and that's bum cheeks
in the seats. Nothing else.
For all of the whiners who want to blame MLB, Loria, Brochu the Quebec
government and others for the demise of the team, there would be no
whining if the team drew 20,000+ per game like other teams do - the
team would not be moving. Anyways, I've already posted those comments
ad nauseum previously.....
So, to top off a good week and weekend, my son and I went to the
Expos-Jays game yesterday. 8-0 for the Expos after the 2nd inning!
Loved it. Hentgen sure gave the game away - 25 pitches in the first
inning and he had walked 5 by the middle of the 2nd.
Oh yes, with no special seat pricing (lots of sold $20, $30, & $40
seats) and $6.50 beers, there were over 25,000 tushies in the stadium.
As much as I don't like the DH and couldn't care less about the Blue
Jays, it's pretty clear which Canadian city deserves a team and which
does not.
By the way, what;s this nonsense about the next Expos-Jays series
taking place on Canada Day in Puerto Rico?????????? Who's the genius
who decided on THAT venue for this series?????????
Do the Jays draw bigger crowds in Montreal than other teams?
That's it for me. My ten year boycott was briefly interrupted....
Take care y'all.
