I once watched a special on TV and they said the PING FACTOR would make a
man deaf after a long time of using an aluminum bat.

Not going to happen.

Pro athletes are getting *less* tough, not more.

For example, seen any rodeo lately? It's a sport whose
only reason for existing is to find the toughest cowboy on
the ranch. Now they wear face masks, flak vests, braces,
harnesses, cervical collars...

The wooden bat just seems more real. The sound of the ball hitting a
wooden bat is wonderful. I prefer it, but this year, there seems to
be alot more broken bats. I don't think a game that I watch goes by
without one breaking. It's also weird how aluminum bats are used all
the way up through college ball, and then it switches to wood in
professional ball. I can't see them switching to aluminum in the
majors, even if it makes more sense.

I sure as hell hope not. That "clink" sound has nothing to do with
baseball. Also, it would take away the variety of bats possible by using
different woods, etc. An aluminum bat is simply an aluminum bat. If MLB
were ever to allow it, it would be a stupid move. But then, Selig has shown
that stupidity is his middle name.....

Sammy did not make a "mistake." Your credulity is only exceeded by your
blindness.

These guys know their bats like the back of their hands. Sammy knew exactly
which bat he took to the plate that night. He was in a deep slump and was
willing to cheat to try and get out of it.

Hell, even the Cubs fans admit that he cheated. What alternate universe
have YOU been living in?

This incident was pivotal in the tepid player support that got him passed
over for the All Star game. The players all know what Sammy did that night.
Apparently, you are the only one who can't see it.

It will also come back to haunt him when Hall Of Fame time arrives. That
one incident put every home run he's ever hit in doubt.

The bat wasn't the only thing that had cork in it that night. Sammy's
head......

Peter Gammons: "If I'm Sammy Sosa, there is no way I bring a corked bat
into Wrigly field for ANY reason."

I agree wholeheartedly.
