Sammy did not make a "mistake." Your credulity is only exceeded by your
blindness.
These guys know their bats like the back of their hands. Sammy knew exactly
which bat he took to the plate that night. He was in a deep slump and was
willing to cheat to try and get out of it.
Hell, even the Cubs fans admit that he cheated. What alternate universe
have YOU been living in?
This incident was pivotal in the tepid player support that got him passed
over for the All Star game. The players all know what Sammy did that night.
Apparently, you are the only one who can't see it.
It will also come back to haunt him when Hall Of Fame time arrives. That
one incident put every home run he's ever hit in doubt.
The bat wasn't the only thing that had cork in it that night. Sammy's
head......
Peter Gammons: "If I'm Sammy Sosa, there is no way I bring a corked bat
into Wrigly field for ANY reason."
I agree wholeheartedly.
