Ishii, Swallows hand Takahashi 1st loss

Veteran southpaw Kazuhisa Ishii held Yomiuri's red-hot offense to a run on four hits over eight innings and helped halt struggling
Tokyo Yakult's losing skid at four on Sunday night.

The 33-year-old former Los Angeles Dodgers starter struck out seven, walked two and hit one in a 125-pitch outing in the Swallows'
2-1 victory over the Giants at Tokyo Dome.

Giants starter Hisanori Takahashi didn't give up much, but suffered his first loss of the season after allowing both runs on eight
hits over eight innings.

The Swallows got on the board in the sixth inning when Yasushi Iihara, who hit a one-out triple, scored on Aaron Guiel's blooper to
center. Yakult added an insurance run in the eighth on Ryuji Miyade's first homer of the season--a solo shot to right.

I am only passing this along because he has come up a couple of times recently,
and also because I misread the headline and it sounded like he had some sort
of medical emergency Wink I wouldn't put swallowing his hand past him, though.

125 pitches, huh? sounds like he has learned economy back in japan.
