I'm a diehard mountaineer, so it's at least neat that my favorite
mountaineer, Pat White, was drafted by the reds in the 49th round.

To me, this is an interesting pick and could have some potential. Or
I could just be being a homer.

To the non-footballers, PW is the sickest pure athlete on the college
football field, and a leading heisman candidate as QB of a NC
contender next year.

Baseball-wise, I know that he hasn't played at all since HS.

You may have heard that WVU went thru a coaching change recently ; )

The old football coach wouldn't allow participation in other sports,
but the new one has actually encouraged it. Our backup qb played on
the bb team, the kicker played soccer, and he gave PW his blessing to
play baseball.

But PW decided to focus on spring FB instead. I don't know if that
means he has no interest in BB, or whether he just didn't want to be
distracted druing a NC run. But if it turns out that his future is
in baseball, as most "experts" believe, we may have gotten a pretty
good bargain in obtaining his rights this year.

The angels drafted him out of HS in the 4th round. I know he has sub
4.3 speed and have heard he could reach 96 on the radar gun as a sr in
hs..
