six weeks makes.

i think wedge deseves more credit than most of us are willing to
acknwledge.

the same thing goes for charlie manuel over in philly - despite all
the pitching injuries they've had this season, they're only 2 games
out - and philly fans still despise him because of his accent.

I've said it here before, Manager of the Year.

If he sits tight with the original starting rotation,
Michaels in LF, Nixon in RF, and Barfield at 2B,
Marte at 3B, this is an 80-85 win team.

Fausto Carmona, Asdrubal Cabrera, Franklin
Gutierrez, and Rafael Perez and Casey Blake
have had much to do with the success of the team.
Most of it unexpected.

Really, Grady and Travis have had
lesser seasons than most expected in March/April.

The machinations made by Wedge (and the results
produced by the players given an opportunity) are the
reason this team is the ALCD champion.

I still get the feeling that Sizemore and Hafner are going to shine in the
postseason. Only a hunch, but boy I hope I'm right.

I hope so, because it will come against the hated Yankees.

I'd love to see old George slug down a bottle of
Pepto Bismol on TV after Jake Westbrook gets a win off
of a Grand Slam by Hafner against Rivera.

ESPN would just go into Dynamic Shit Your Pants
mode if the Tribe knocked their beloved Yankoffs out.

That GD network thinks all the world's sports exist in
NYC. All they talk about are the Yankoff, Mess and Jets.

I'm still hoping the Yankers win the East and the Indians, with the best
record in baseball, get the BoSox while the Angels get the Yankers. Then,
hopefully, it will be the Angels who knock off NY and the Tribe takes care
of Boston. Now, if "the greatest rivalry in sport" doesn't get to play each
other, AGAIN, in the ALCS, wouldn't that be just grand? The folks at ESPN
would all look like someone pissed in their Wheaties.

I'd rather see the Yankees in a 5 game series than a 7 game series. We
would be able to put up Sabathia and Carmona up to twice each out of 5
games. I like those chances vs. anybody.

also, shin soo choo had tommy john surgery this week. why not in june?
now he won't be ready to play until at least april next year.

savage gets a little credit here:
- cabrera came in a trade for eduardo perez (who is now retired);
- gutierrez for milton bradley (who tore his ACL this week while his
manager was trying to restrain him - but to be fair the umpire got
suspended for saying the profanity bradley accused him of saying);
- got lofton;

i was hoping grady would cut down on his strikeouts. i'm wondering if
an obvious attempt to do that (unsuccessfuly) ultimately only made him
less aggressive?
