Yes, believe it or not. The Pride of Chicago was swept
by the Chicago Chokers at the Wrigley Graveyard. This
was a big boost for the inferior National League in
their annual dismal performance against the usually
superior American League.

The Sox should have won one and possibly two of the games. If the
situation were reversed a certain person would say the other team "got
lucky."

As it is the Sox lost. And as I've said here in this NG, the Sox will
go as far as their pitching takes them. On the other hand, the Sox
hitting has been unreliable. In the first two games of this series
the Sox offense was presented with opportunity after opportunity and
failed to deliver. And that happened again even last night. The Sox
pitching has been on the decline in the past week or so. For example,
in the series sweep of the Pirates, the Sox allowed an average of 5
runs a game.

Vázquez is a concern, whereas a few weeks ago IIRC he was near the top
of MLB in ERA. He went into last nights game with a 4 something ERA.

The same Cubbie fans who've claimed "these games mean more to Sox
fans..." will now be spouting off that they've managed to sweep the
Sox. Bear in mind loudmouth louts that your "lovable losers" have
lost 6 straight in the post-season! And oh, BTW HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!

Interesting points Dr. Crawdad.

Cub fans in the past whenever the White Sox would defeat their team
always cried that they don't care about the Sox and
that Sox fans should worry about their own team instead of boasting.
These same people claimed that cub fans don't care about the Sox. That
is clearly a myth. They are totally obsessed with the Sox.
Of course we can understand that since we have something they have
never seen--a World Series championship in our lifetime.
And what a great champion the 2005 Chicago White Sox were with a 11-1
postseason. A record that has never been surpassed!

In 2003, the Sox won the season series over the Cubbies winning the
series at Wrigley and Comiskey. On Friday, June 27, 2003 Jose
Valentin hit a walk-off HR. That day and for the days afterward
Cubbie fans whined and cried about how the Sox celebrated too much.
Ron Santo led the Cubbies in the whining, saying it was unsportsman-
like for the Sox to have celebrated like they did. This revealed
(again) Santo's hypocrisy as he was the guy who loved to rub wins in
opponents faces, clicking his heals following wins in '69. Santo's
crying was so ironic, when he said, "The Sox are celebrating like they
won the World Series..." Well, Santo you're the guy who loved to
celebrate and you NEVER won a World Series!

WGN Radio has been replaying and replaying and replaying parts of the
radio broadcast from this past series at Wrigley. Clearly, this was
not just another series to the Cubbies, as they've repeated claimed in
the past. Santo and Cubbie fans are obsessed with beating the Sox.

"The Sox sure get up for the series against the Cubbies...too bad they
can't play with that passion against other teams..."

So, did the Cubbies carry momentum from the Sox series? Did they "get
up" for the series after the Sox series? No, clearly as they got
"whupped" by the Orioles.

Cubbie fans should be thanking the Sox. Why? Without the Sox World
Series Championship in '05 and following 90 win season and the gains
in attendance, TV and radio ratings the Cubbies would not have allowed
Hendry to spend an unprecedented amount on the Cubbies. Great job on
that '07 team there Jimbo, that team that won a whopping 85 games and
got swept away like garbage tossed on Wrigley's field.

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY CUBBIES!
