Something positive? As opposed to praying that AJ pulls a hammy or gets
busted for steroids or something <g>. Hey, I always knew these guys had it
in them. No way would Martin and Kemp and everyone else go through the year
hitting the way they did the first 2 weeks. Kemp in particular has really
found his stride and how bout our short stop. Good grief, I swear I did not
know he had it in him. I guess he really was playing hurt last year. Gotta
love those contract years. Hot damn.

Well I'd call Schmidt, JP and AJ high priced FA's. The problem is that
they were WAY over payed for what they bring. The first warning sign
for AJ should have been the fact that the sevarB didn't even attempt
to resign him, nor did the gints with Schmidt, of which colletti
SHOULD have know he had shoulder problems since he went down twice
from it when he was assistant GM. So the ? is, is there any $$ to re-
sign Raffy? Especially if he doesn't cool off that much.

Either way above or way below. However, anyone want to guess what
Furcal is going to ask for and how likely the Dodgers are to give it to
him? Personally, I hope they do since there's no one like him coming up
soon - when he's on, the dude is *on* and worth every penny.

I was thinking the same thing. The Dodgers have not stepped up to keep a
high-priced free agent in recent memory.
I don't see Hu as a suitable replacement. I don't follow the minors much so
maybe someone knows of a hot prospect coming our way.
If Furcal continues like this he'll be a favorite for MVP and just might ask
for the stadium.

I should clarify my remark about signing free-agents.. I meant Dodger free
agents, ala Piazza.

Not saying my memory is perfect, but my recollection is Piazza was never a
"Dodger free agent." They offered him a new deal during the final year of
his contract, he refused it, and they traded him to Florida. Dealt then to
the Mets, Piazza wound up signing a new contract with them for somewhat less
than the Dodgers had offered. Least that's how I remember all that trauma.
