Morning all,

I saw somewhere else a note about the Phillies having the best 1-2-3
in baseball. I'm not convinced about that so I'm trying to figure out
who's front end of the rotation is best. I've listed my contenders
below. Let me know your thoughts.

Red Sox: Martinez, Schilling, Lowe
Yankees: Mussina, Brown, Vazquez
Astros: Miller, Pettitte, Clemens
Marlins: Beckett, Burnett, Penny
A's: Zito, Hudson, Mulder

I'd take any of those combo's to be honest but I think, assumming
health is not an issue, I'd take the Yanks. However with Kevin Brown,
health is always an issue.

What do you think?

I'll assume for now that we are talking pitching ability here rather
than looks. Should we take into account the home field that they would
be throwing in? Oh I don't know..but just to keep the thread going and
me amused before I take my morning dump:

1>A's: Zito, Hudson, Mulder
2>Red Sox: Martinez, Schilling, Lowe
3>Marlins: Beckett, Burnett, Penny
4>Yankees: Mussina, Brown, Vazquez
5>Astros: Miller, Pettitte, Clemens

I'm taking it you didn't take park effects into account then? FWIW I
think the Sox position depends a lot on the effectiveness of D-Lowe.
Last year he won 16 (?) games but his ERA was in the high 4's. I don't
think he'll get that kind of run support this year. Also the Marlins
trio, whilst being undoubtedly talented, have yet to prove their worth
in the regular season. Not to say they wont, merely that they haven't
yet. Therefore I'd be tempted to rank them as follows:

A's
Yanks
Sox
Marlins
Astros

Where's the guy that was claiming Philly had the best 1-2-3 in
baseball? Bring it. Wink

Can a defensive upgrade at one position (even a middle infielder for an
extreme ground ball kinda guy like D Lowe) make *that* big a difference.

I'd be surprised.

30 year old pitcher posts ERA within 0.1 of his career ERA. Film at 11.

You have selected "Agent Zero". If this is correct, press 1.
