Ok,
I like the A's I swear to gosh.
But let's talk for a minute.
Jack Cust, off the chemistry: not so good ?
right ?
no one wants to talk about chemistry anymore, which
makes sense, sure. We all want to love baseball. But
I mean, .. Cust was good because of rings of carbon molecules
strung together by covalent bonds, and maybe a few oxygen
and hydrogen and nitrogen molecules attached there too.
now he is a strikeout victim. repeatedly.
ok, sorry.

He's gonna strikeout plenty. So did Babe Ruth and Reggie Jackson.
Let's see what kind of overall numbers he's putting up after a month
or two, before we write him off, ok? >> Stay informed about: cust. let's talk |

Yet Daric Barton is leading the majors in strikeouts with 16 (tied
with OF Chris Young, ARI).
Cust is third with 15 strikeouts (tied with Ryan Howard).
Not good for the long haul, indeed. >> Stay informed about: cust. let's talk |

True, they strikeout a lot. But I'd much prefer a K to a DP. At least when
Cust is up with one out and a man on 1st (you know the A's aren't gonna do
something smart like hit and run or steal) you know he's not gonna end the
rally with one swing.

I think Cust almost GDP'd against Toronto, actually, but there was an
error/FC or something.
I would always prefer more contact, in general, from any hitter --
even at the risk of GDPs. You can stay out of GDPs by running more,
etc., but the A's don't seem to like that style of play.
Every level of baseball emphasizes contact, for that matter. The A's
are odd birds, indeed. >> Stay informed about: cust. let's talk |

I wouldn't include Babe Ruth as someone who struck out a lot.
When you consider his AB and walks his SO are fairly low.
Now, Reggie is another matter.
As for Cust, it is a concern with all his SO.
As I recall, doesn't his father run a hitting school back in Jersey?
Perhaps, he should give his son some tips.
regards,
jossy
