I'm confused help me out here (Swisher to Sox for 3 players)

Well it would seem that we just aquirred Swisher from the A's for Gio
Gonzales,Ryan Sweeney, and Fautino De Los Santos.
Now it seems that Swisher hit .262 with 22 homers and 78 RBI in 150
games in 2007, and played right field and first base. The part that
confuses me is that we already have a right fieldr that will hit those
kind of numbers (Dye) and a first baseman (Kornerko) and a sub for
that first baseman(Thome). We also have Josh Fields and he should be
the 4th outfielder (because he sure isn't a third baseman)
Now to get this guy that we don't really seem to need we gave up Gio
Gonzales (the guy we traded away Rowand for because we made a mistake
when we traded him to the Phillies the first time with Garcia for
Gavin Floyd) ( the Sox would not trade Rowand for Thome even up
Gonzales had to be part of the deal). Now Gonzales led all minor
leaguebaseball in stikeouts last year and was 9-7 with a 3.18 ERA in
27 starts and was selected to the Southern League midseason and
postseason All-Star team (double A)

21-year-old De Los Santos went 9-4 with a 2.40 ERA in 15 starts and
six relief appearances for Class A Kannapolis in 2007.

Sweeney, a 22-year-old left hitter, was among Chicago's top prospects
going into last season, when he batted .270 with 10 home runs and 47
RBI in 105 games for Triple-A Charlotte. He also hit .200 with a home
run and five RBI in 15 games for the White Sox.

Now here is where I 'm confused. Why do you trade 3 top prospect for a
guy that you really have no need for especially when 2 of them are
pitchers and you are dying for pitching?
I really know the answer Kenny Williams is not only unknowledgable
when it comes judging talent but doesn't have any plan at all. He
will wheel and deal this team into the cellar for the next few years
(he got a pretty good jump on that mission last year)

Apparently he played at least 60 games in CF last year and is quite
serviceable there.

To say we have no need for him is to assume he can only play RF
(apparently you think he can't even play LF?) and therefore his offense
means nothing because we already have a DH, who -- oh by the way -- can
get injured, but that's a separate discussion.

Baloney. Look at Swisher's OBP -- it is very good. He's a
switch-hitter. I assure you we will find a spot for him in the starting
lineup without disturbing Dye or Konerko.
