with the temperature only in the mid-40s at game time i was wondering
how cold it would have to be for one to be called due to the chill? has
it ever happened in world series history?
seems like if not, it is only a matter of time since the games go right
up to november these days.

I would say it would have to get into the 20s. >> Stay informed about: how cold is too cold to play a game? |

Maybe it's about time MLB reconsider their regular season calendar and
bring it back to 154 games. Both the season and the series would end a
week earlier. Baseball is a summer game created to be played under the
sun and in relatively warm weather. Another advantage: modern records
would be comparable to older ones: no more Maris or Ichiro
controversies... >> Stay informed about: how cold is too cold to play a game? |

I was going to post about the snow at the first Jays game, but you

At least we know it'll be warmer in St louis.Of course, the problem is
that they have to play in Flush Stadium. >> Stay informed about: how cold is too cold to play a game? |

I like the cold, and am very cold-resistant, but that'd be brutal on
the hands. Pumping gas might be worse...

I went out for my high school baseball team. It was so cold on the
final day of tryouts (March in Pennsylvania) that I couldnt make the
throw from second to first. Not that I had a chance in hell of making
the team (60 guys tried out for maybe 20 spots. I was probably #60). >> Stay informed about: how cold is too cold to play a game? |

I was at Opening Day in Detroit in 1997 and the temperature was 32 degrees and
very windy; the wind chill was zero.

You're surprising me, fellows.
My memory is that, as children at school, we played baseball
essentially all year. I think we might have favored softball
when there was snow, because baseballs hid too easily. I
don't remember giving up on games because of cold, though.
Football players certainly catch and throw at low temperatures. >> Stay informed about: how cold is too cold to play a game? |
