Would you follow the franchise if they moved? What would you do?

Say the team gets hot, wins the wild card and the World Series but
plays in Monterrey/San Juan/Washington/Portland/Virginia next year;
would you still follow the Expos? Me, I would say yes except for
Washington, at least then I'd have Expos to cheer for and a winner to
look back on.

If the team doesn't win the World Series or is put in Washington for
2004 then what? I wouldn't be as inclined to follow them. Especially
since they'll have never won in Montréal and Vlad Guerrero won't
likely be with them. Who would you cheer for in any case, WS or no,
Guerrero or no, Livan or Vidro or... gone?

Me, I'd really have to cross that bridge if it happens when it
happens. San Fran (west team, Alou history, has won, had Mays, not LA
or NY) and Cleveland (history, won, not LA or NY, had Rapid Robert, a
name/logo that bothers silly people) would get looks, even long shots
Pittsburgh, CWS or Baltimore (OK, CWS and BO are really long shots).
I doubt I'd switch to TO, they'd stay in 2nd being Canadian. Whoever
it is won't get me going like the Expos, for sure. I'd MUCH rather
see the team in Montréal but who can ever tell? Best thing going for
them is inertia, it takes baseball people 10 years to decide if they
like Pepsi Blue or not.

Stay in Montréal and keep me from choosing. Heck, I've only switched
teams once ever and that was almost 30 years ago in the low-level
cheering (for me) NFL. I was little and that was a switch to a
western team and one who didn't look like the Edmonton Eskimos.

I seriously doubt I'd cheer for the team in a new location. I might clap
a bit for the players who were in Montréal, but one the last former Expo
is off the team, that'd be it. I would considering showing up at the
team's road games in full MONTREAL Expos regalia with a protest sign.

If the team is no longer the Montreal Expos, not only will I not follow them
if they moved, I will stop following baseball totally.

That simple.

I've been waiting for the expos to move for years and I yearn for it to
happen. maybe get into a market where they can actually bid for some free
agents and perhaps sign some of our own players as well.
please move soon....

the only mlb baseball i watch is when the expos are on TV or when Pedro
pitches for the bosox.

When the Expos leave, then MLB can go to hell, i'm not watching again.

You know, I live in a city which lost a major league franchise to a larger
market and a corrupt owner and then not many years later saw that franchise
move to the second largest market in the US. They became the laughing-stock of
their league for a quarter century and only recently have managed even the
slightest amount of respect. Support for the sport in the city where they moved
from went from good to virtually zero overnight and has only recovered because
a local college team occasionally does well (rarely) or is involved in a major
scandal, as happened in the spring.

The team was the NBA's Buffalo Braves, now known as the Los Angeles Clippers.

I've seen it happen. It isn't pretty and only an idiot would ever want to see
it happen to their city.
