At what age does a man refrain from wearing one, on a regular basis? I'm
not talking about weekend fishing trips, or football games, etc. I mean,
wearing one from the moment the alarm clock goes off until bedtime.

Those should be given up with high-tops and tee-shirts with words that make
the only fashion statement that your wardrobe will ever likely make. I
suggest this: if you still feel like a goof-ball in a nice suit, you need to
wear the suit 'more' often and the baseball cap 'less' often -- when you can
wear the suit comfortably, save the hat for trips to the game and for
fishing.

My favorite t-shirt has a picture of Spock on it and says "Spock is my
homeboy". What more of a fashion statement do I need, really?

The t-shirt I'm wearing right now has a picture of a chipmunk with a
baseball bat, and it says "Protect Your Nuts".

I've never worn one - I still have hair. I figure those that wear them
must have something to hide.

I wear a hat at work and most people assume I'm balding, but I'm not.

It depends on what you do for a living. If it doesn't matter, why the
hell not wear it all the time, except at the dinner table, when it
should most definitely be taken off, unless you're a northerner with no
manners.

It's a fad and cycles. My dad's era wore hats - my era didn't - the
one after me did - the next one turned them backwards. I think they
are losing favor now - my older grandsons don't wear them. Younger
people seem to think being different is a sign of intelligence and
progress

I've always figured it was the farmer gene - most people were farmers
5+ generations ago and wore broad brims and bonnets to protect from
the sun. In the winter I think most heat escapes from the head.

Even if I wore any kind of hat I would take it off indoors.

Here in Vermont a lot of the young folk wear wool stocking-style caps or
knit toques pretty much all damn year, even indoors. I find it odd, but
they didn't ask me my opinion.

Or a Jewish man and required by your religion to wear a hat at all
times. If I wanted to follow that rule without standing out (as one
does when wearing a yarmulke), I might very well wear a baseball cap.

Why would one not want to stand out?
