me that this team "needed to have time to get aquainted"

Well Old Joe Dopes took those words of wisdom to heart and lo' and
behold the "getting aquainted" period has actually produced some fine
results.

Aside from the worst record in baseball,the "getting aquainted" period
has produced infighting among the coaching staff (much more of this
going on than what is seen) and numerous factions among players with a
common theme of disdain toward management and the coaching staff.
