Not really. At least, nobody close to the majors (and nobody close to
a sure thing as a real bopper).
The one closest to the majors (tho' by no means a sure thing as a real
masher) is Lucas May, who hit 25 HRs last year and has 8 thus far this
year (line of .279/.341/.551 in 147 AB). He's probably the best
hitting prospect in the system at this point (the best not named Andy
LaRoche).
Behind him are a load of question marks with bits of potential. Andrew
Lambo has the build (6'3", 190), and showed promise in his first pro
action (GCL last year he hit .343/.440/.519, 15 2B and 5 HR in 181 AB
as an 18yo), but has been a bit of a disappointment thus far in the
Midwest league (.267/.325/.444, 13 2B, 6 HR in 187 AB). This is
however his age 19 season (doesn't turn 20 until mid August), so those
numbers are a bit better then they initially appear given his age.
Joshua Bell has shown some promise as a power prospect, but thus far
in the Cali league his numbers are similar to Lambos, but with better
discipline (.273/.373/.455, 12 2B, 6 HR in 187 AB). He hit 17 HR last
season in just short of 500 AB (mostly in the Midwest league) in what
was his age 20 season: not especially young, but certainly not old
enough for age to be a concern. He doesn't turn 22 until November.
There is one guy who was touted as a potential basher during the draft
a couple years ago, but really hasn't shown it yet; mostly because
he's barely played (I'm not entirely sure why). Kyle Orr is a 6'5" kid
out of Canada, who it seems the Dodger brass are hoping will become
the next Mike Piazza (he was drafted as a 1B, but has been moved to C
since going pro). He played in the GCL last season as an 18yo and and
flashed some "three true outcomes" potential (.228/.330/.329, 7 AB, 3
HR, 19/47 BB/K in 158 AB), but has yet to play this year. I haven't
seen any specific reason for this (such as injury or suspension), so I
can only assume the organization has him slotted to repeat rookie
ball, possibly because of his conversion to C (he's logged no time at
that position yet, but his page on minorleaguebaseball.com lists him
as a C).
Thats about the best I can give you on that front: not alot of
certainty, and definitely nothing close to the majors (May could very
well get a cup of coffee this September, but the others are most
likely a good 3-4 years away).
