I think the pickup is good. Cubs have a few lefty's but the only one that I
like in the bullpen is Scott Eyre. I do not like Will Ohman. The pitchers
we gave up are OK but we need experienced players ( ones that have been in
other organizations and with different coaches than the Cubs). Haven't you
noticed a pattern yet of great minor league talent going bust under the
Cubs. Let me list you some of the failures. Juan Cruz, Gary Mathews Jr,
Kerry Wood, Cory Patterson, Mark Prior, Kevin Orie, Now maybe Angel
Guzman. But What about some promising players in the minor leagues that
wound up nothing. The only success has been Zambrano and that only partialy.
Let's face it the cubs have some of the worst coaches in baseball. It's
just not a management issue. Remember 3rd base coach Kim. How'd he get a
job with the Cubs anyway. The Corey issue is related to the coaches and
some bad influences from Sammy Sosa. He just wanted to swing for the fences
and not work on other areas of his game.
I don't know why but every young player winds up becoming a basket case.
Remember Brant Brown. He drops a fly ball and they start talking about his
mental state. Brant Brown is never heard from again.
