Decrepit old fan from Vermont dies of heart failure as NY Mets manager
leaves in "closer" who gives up 4 hits and two runs with a 3 run lead
before shutting the Marlins down.

Condolences can be sent up to the wet and frigid green mountain state.

Ayala is not cut out to be a closer. Until Wagner comes back, they
need to use a committee or at least use situational pitching to put
the odds more in the Mets favor. That could have been devastating if
the Mets blew that game Friday night.

Unless you missed it, that is what they were doing before Ayala.
And the results were even worse. He hasn't been perfect but in a
few games he has been very good and is better than the
alternatives. Do you want Heilman and Feliciano closing games
again?

It's funny. Last night the Marlin's announcers were saying how they
hope Heilman doesn't get in the game. They called him the Marlin
killer.
