I placed my season ticket deposit yesterday (11/17) - confirmation
#734. Anyone out there with a lower number? >> Stay informed about: big day in Washington |

Congratulations Shabba. You might want to read the thread "Closing
Down Shop in Montreal" to get the other side of the equation. I
really am happy for you, but I hope you'll understand that none of
this is good news for me.
In other news, the vote was NOT held today. Anybody have any ideas
why? ESPN is reporting this:
Selig said the issues that delayed the vote were "internal,"
describing them as "housekeeping" matters. He declined to be more
specific, but one could be baseball's negotiations with Baltimore
Orioles owner Peter Angelos.
Anyone have any other news? >> Stay informed about: big day in Washington |

No ballpark. My guess is that the ballpark financing will be delayed
along with the RFK renovations. As a result no one will be willing to
buy the team so they will sign a year to year lease at RFK with baseball
still owning the team.

Probably to put pressure on the DC council. The Council vote is
scheduled for Nov. 30.

It will get done no matter what. Sure there are a few glitches but
when all is said and done, it will happen.
Peter Angelos has a lot to do with the delay in the vote too. He
should take care of his own team and let this thing he has against
Washington go.

Very reliable media sources tell me that a big part of it is Angelos and he
may end up suing baseball (he has very strong grounds to) and ultimately
destroying the proposed move.

I don't blame Angelos. He purchased the team with the understanding
that there was no one else in the market ( know they are different
markets for tv purposes but in the real world they overlap). Imagine
someone buying a Mc Donalds franchise with the understanding that it is
the only one with x number of miles and then the company awards one to
someone a few blocks away.

Why would Pete even think this. He should have known that Washington
was gonna get a team sooner or later. That was dumb on his part.
He should not be able to control the destiny of another city or it's
franchises. He is having enough trouble keeping his own team above
water.

Give it up David....... Montreal's chances of hosting an MLB team next
year are about as good as Mohammed Ali making a boxing comeback, or
Johnny Bower winning the Vezina in 2005.
There's nothing more painful than not letting go. Come on David,
repeat after me, "The-team-formerly-known-as-the-Expos has moved to
DC. Montreal no longer has a MLB team."
There you go....doesn't that feel better?
