Let's behave on Wednesday

(The following was mostly written between innings Tuesday night from the
Stade Olympique Press Box):

If Wednesday's game is to be the last one in Montreal, lets show the
world our best face.

The players are concerned. Brad Wilkerson (my favorite Expo now with
Cabrera gone) specifically stated after the game tonight that he was
worried about security if a relocation announcement is made before the
game. Jeff Conine supposedly said he was worried as well.

So let's behave ourselves Wednesday. Let's not boo The Star-Spangled
Banner. Let's not run onto the field like one idiot did during the game
tonight. Let's not throw objects onto the field (which I saw, to my
dismay, during the last two season enders). Let's not storm the diamond
and rip up the turf at the end of the game.

This is not to say that I don't hope to hear some variations of
"Selig/Loria/Brochu stinks," bounce around the acoustical wonder that is
theBig O. But what I really want to hear is ecstatic cheering. Cheer for the
team that struggled through the season no matter what the crowds. Cheer
for the members of the amazing 1994 team who will be in attendance. Cheer
for 36 seasons of Nos Amours.

I am holding out hope for a miracle; A white knight and/or a victory in
the RICO suit. If it happens, I dont want people outside Montreal to use
our bad behavior in arguments against retaining the Expos. If the team
does leave, I dont want the publics last memories of baseball in Montreal
to be of rioting (in other words, let's do nothing to encourage further
Montreal/Expos/Quebec/Canada bashing).
