| I've heard a lot of complaints from NY about Citizen's Bank Park being
a "bandbox"... having small dimensions. Can someone please explain to
me how the bandbox was a factor in last night's game?

It wasn't. The Mets' ineptitude and the Phillies' fortitude were the
contributing factors. >> Stay informed about: bandbox |

Well... according to ballpark factor, this year Shea (1.092) is more of a
bandbox than CBP (0.970), which is playing more like a pitcher's park. A
ballpark factor over 1 favors the hitter, less than 1 favors the pitcher.
CBP's "bandbox" reputation may have more to do with the sucky pitching the
Phils had in prior years than the ballpark itself.

So what if it is a bandbox? Yeh many HRs are hit at CBP. I believe many
top flight pitchers that the Phillies will undoubtedly pursue during the off
season, will be repelled by the short fences. Can't have it all. >> Stay informed about: bandbox |

The park is small for both team. If you one up, you Ryan Howard to
get 2 back >> Stay informed about: bandbox |

The bandbox was the perfect sonic environment to amplify the
whining of the Mets that CBP is a bandbox.

no way. That just shows me you can invest too much merit into that stat.
The balls rocket out of there.
Shea, however, has a very different dynamic this year because of the wall
that closes the outfield. You can really feel the difference.

Talking about jinxing your team. Shouldn't you have waited at least
until the second game was over before making pronouncements about
ineptitude? >> Stay informed about: bandbox |

uh, no. by that logic you shouldn't comment on any game until the season
is over. it was a remark about one game, not the series, not the season.

OK, I follow that logic. What about last night's game then---
ineptitude vs fortitude again, right? >> Stay informed about: bandbox |

OK, whatever.
You're from Brooklyn and rooting for the Phils? You'd know this-- is
there a radio station that broadcasts Phils games that can be picked
up in NYC? >> Stay informed about: bandbox |

I used to sometimes get it on 1490 (Levittown, PA). 1210
(Philly) is stronger, but there's another station that that
interferes with it badly. Bottom line is that I found it
pretty frustrating.
The complete list to try is here:
http://philadelphia.phillies.mlb.com/phi/schedule/radio_network.jsp
I finally broke down and got XM, however.
(I'm sure you also know that you can get radio broadcasts on the
computer for a small fee.)
