I just read that Aaron Boone (the guy I really really wanted
the Dodgers to land) is hitting .200 since the trade. Since I
was against going after Lowell because I didn't think he would
play as well in the second half, I checked it out. He hasn't
been hitting HR at the same pace, having only 7 since July
1 and only 3 in August. His other stats in July were very good,
with an SLG over 500 and an OPS over 900...but August was
pretty dismal 270 / .346 / .616. His SLG (and subsequently
is OPS) dropped 180 points pre AS to post AS.
Still better than some but not worth what the Marlins had been
asking. So I was right about Lowell (mostly) but very wrong
about Boone...luckily neither of "my" teams got either of these
guys so it's a happy ending after all. Smile
