This was really, really dumb of Hendry. But hey look how valuable
Enrique Wilson was.

I don't care, I think the worst off-season move this year was Chip & Stoney.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Sisco could be taken in the Rule 5 draft
because he wasn't on the 40-man roster. Enrique Wilson must have a
spot on the 40-man roster since I think you have to be on it to play at
the major-league level. Therefore, he was taking up space that could
have been filled by Andy Sisco.

Enrique Wilson was acquired after Sisco had been long gone.

But you could make the same arguement for Jose Macias if you like....

Fine, Macias like the previous reply, whatever. The point is that we
obviously have slots to spare on the 40-man roster if we're putting
garbage like Wilson there.

No, as I said, my POINT was that valuable roster slots get taken up by
players like Wilson. I know Wilson wasn't on the 40-man at the time.
I was trying to illustrate that a roster slot is only as valuable as
the players you put in it. I probably should have explained myself a
bit better originally, but I mostly post at work and sometimes don't
have a lot of time, so apologies if I was unclear.

Where have I said that Sisco would have the same stats on the Cubs? I
am merely saying that a 6'9" lefty makes more sense on the 40-man
roster than players like Wilson (I mentioned Wilson specifically
because I have a bad taste in my mouth from him starting the Yankees
game I was at, yuck).

No, he did not "rip up the minors" last year but a 4.21 ERA isn't
exactly total failure. Plus a career minor league ERA of 3.72 and 9.9
K's per 9 innings. But all that aside, I have always been interested
in seeing a 6'9" lefty in Cubs pinstripes since we drafted him. Maybe
that's too emotional and not sabermetric enough?

**His continued following and worrying about such players is kinda like

around to see if he got a good deal or not. ***

No, it's like a guy who trades his hotrod for a handful of magic beans
and then sees the neighbor down the block drag racing the hotrod up and
down the street while the beans molder in the dry, arid, drought-addled
front yard.
