Post subject: The altitude curse
Archived from groups: alt>sports>baseball>col-rockies (more info?)

I can only wish we had a Billy goat or a bambino curse... The difference
with our curse, is I believe it's real: Our hitters get used to easier
pitching, since half our games are played in the thinner air of Coors Field
where the ball moves less. In comparison, when we play on the road the
pitchers seem to be throwing whiffleballs. I don't know what can be done
about this handicap of ours. I wonder if we will *ever* be a great team.

As we all know, this "curse" (?) is currently only one of the Rockies' many
problems. Right now, their most fundamental problem is the upper
management's apparent apathy and ineptness, along with the organization's
inability to find and develop new talent.

I just wish ONE *baseball-obsessed* billionaire would buy this team. Then
we could focus on mitigating our "curse." To such a person, let me say,
when our team is good, we are baseball-obsessed fans. Just look at our
attendance for the team we've had. While you're at it, compare that
attendance with our population. Sellouts will be quite common!
