Okay, most important, where can we get the best slice
of New York pizza??? It's been 10 years since I was last
in the City so just hoping you'll have a recommendation.

Also, what time do we have to be at Yankee Stadium
to be able to see the Monuments? When does the Stadium
open for a night game? It's my daughter's first time ever to NYC.
Mucho gracias.

Lombardi's (Spring St. b/t Mulberry and Mott), Gramaldi's (Brooklyn),
John's on Bleeker St., and Patsy's (famous one is in East Harlem, but
there are others), are 4 good choices.

I would look this stuff up on yankees.com, but from my memory, gates
open 2 hours before game time on weekends, and 1.5 hours on weekdays,
and monument park is open until something like 1 hour before game time.

Enjoy!

I haven't lived there in years, but when I am back, Lombardi's is where
I try to go when I can. Have a great trip. NY is an amazing place to
spend a weekend as a tourist.

Definitely much more appealing than KFC Bowl thread.

Good lord I never thought I'd live long enough to read that (you're
right of course) in my lifetime considering the neighborhood even back
in the early 90s. Before that was hellhole.

You want to be at the stadium 3 hours before the game to check out the
stores across the street then to get in line to be among the first to get
into the stadium when it opens 2 hours before the game. If you are expecting
any really great food around or in the stadium you will be disappointed,
unless you drink enough warm beer first.

Really? Anything specific that you can articulate, or you just don't
like the overall taste? I've been there twice and enjoyed it both times.

Didn't know that. I knew the Harlem one was supposed to be the best. I
think they had some connection to Grimaldi's and started up after a
fight or something. I didn't realize the others weren't connected. I
was at one in the vicinity of 35th and 3rd (this is approximate), and I
found the pizza to be good.

You'll get all kinds of answers on this, but if you're getting pizza
on your way up to the Stadium, it's a no-brainer: Go to the original
location of Patsy's in East Harlem on 1st Av. between 117th and 118th
Sts. Old-school super thin-crust coal-oven pizza. It's not all about
the toppings, but the crust and texture (good sauce, too). Make sure
at least one of the pies you get is a plain one. They sell slices to
go, too.

I'm not sure about that. Patsy's in East Harlem is excellent, and I
also like the pizza at Arturo's. Plus, there are a bunch of
Neapolitan-style coal-oven places I have yet to try (La Pizza
Napoletana, e.g.).

I haven't been in a few years but was impressed with Nick's in Forest
Hills.

Yes, especially DiFara's. Apparently, there are some problems with
inconsistency at Grimaldi's, and it's best to show up just before
opening time because they don't keep their coal oven very hot all the
time. Totonno's was also very good when I visited, though I preferred
the other two I mentioned. I have yet to make it to Franny's for an
upscale meal including pizza and look forward to it. It's the favorite
place for pizza for some people whose taste I respect.

You mean E. 15th, right?

E. 15 in Brooklyn? Unless I'm very much mistaken, there are no E. or
W. designations to streets in Brooklyn.

First things first.
1.) Get an UZI and a backpack full of shells.
2.) Leave children at home.
3.) If your going there to root for the Yanks make sure to bring plenty of
"D" cell batteries to throw at the opposition.
4.) Be sure to bring a few vials of HGH with you in case the Giambino runs
out.
5.) Bring a Gucci bag for A-Rod to sign
6.) Last but not least bring lots of Germ X hand sanitizer for when you
touch anything there.

You'll be golden and ready for a Yankee game in NYC.

Hope this helps.

Yup. The Alphabet City was not a place to hang out then, but it's
unrecognizable now. During the "golden age" of NY hard core there
were a lot of skinheads hanging out near CBGB's. I guess all the
Ukrainian places (even Little Kiev is gone I think) were replaced by
mediocre Indian restaurants these days (closer to Houston).
