I will be cheering on the Cubs Tuesday night, July 17 and Wednesday
afternoon, July 18. I am planning to stay in Arlington Heights, IL.
Can you please give me some help on where to access public
transportation and the best plan for going to Wrigley. Thanks and
good luck to the Cubs!

About how much time should I allow for the Metra and buses? Thanks!

Go to http://tripsweb.rtachicago.com/

Fill in your starting location and destination, and when you want to
travel, and it will give you the routes, fare, and travel times.

The Metra Northwest line stops in Arlington. I'd take that to Irving
Park, then the Irving bus to Clark. I'd walk from there, but i imagine
most people would want to transfer to the Clark bus.

There might be a better way; this is just what came to mind first.

Ever hear of Google maps?
You can search any destination and get a complete travel route!
Amazing huh?

Idiot.

People get killed using Public transit.

You can get bus schedules at the following url:

http://www.transitchicago.com/maps/bus/bus.html

The inbound train schedule is at

http://metrarail.com/Sched/cnw_nw/cnwnwwi.shtml

The train ride is about half an hour. You'll probably be on the 80 bus
about that amount of time, too, but as you know, the bus can be
unpredictable.

Maybe so, but were there more than 43531 deaths by public
transportation?

That's the number of road fatalities in the US in 2006.

It's not.

http://www.nsc.org/lrs/statfaq.htm#Question10
<begin quote>
Most Dangerous Mode of Transportation
Injury Facts® compares four modes of transportation: scheduled
airlines, railroad passenger trains (including Amtrak and
commutation), buses, and passenger automobiles (excluding vans and
pickup trucks). In general, buses, trains, and airlines have much
lower death rates than automobiles when the risk is expressed as
passenger deaths per passenger mile of travel. (Automobile drivers are
considered passengers but operators and crew of planes, trains, and
buses are not.) In 2000, the passenger death rate in automobiles was
0.80 per 100 million passenger-miles. The rates for buses, trains, and
airlines were 0.05, 0.03, and 0.02, respectively.
<end quote>

That makes automobiles about 27 times more deadly than trains.

Check a grammar book, especially the section on subject-verb agreement.

After that, consider this: People drive more highway miles in the US
because it's a large, decentred country. Trains and buses travel short
routes because they are concentrated in urban areas. Apples and
oranges. Then consider how much less grief your family would have
knowing that traveled 100 miles miles before you bit the dust.
Translation: I don't accept deaths-over-distance as a valid category.

Finally, i'm sure you're a manly man; after all, you're a male
prostitute and all. Considering all that, it's rather amusing to see
you tremble in fear at getting on the train -- shiver! --
Ar-Arrrrrlington H-h-hhheights. Scary, isn't it? Oooh, and then you'd
ride down to that meanest of streets Irving Park and get off at
C-C-Clark. Oh, the horror. Have you peed your pants yet?

If that's true, I would really be surprised. And the only way that *might*
be true would be *in the world*, which factors in countries like Bangladesh
and Mozambique, countries where there are very few cars, and planes, trains,
boats, and busses are the only way common people travel.

In the US, mass transit is statistically much safer.

Not if there are gang members on the train.
