Hey peeps,

I don't care that we're Angels fans but if you were watching tonights
Red Sox Vs Angels game you had to have been impressed with how the Red
Sox scratched and clawed.

At one stage- when the Yankees hit the lead again in the 6th(?) inning
it looked like the Red Sox were about to stop. After 8 innings it looked
bleak and even so far as the the middle of the 9th it looked like the
Red Sox had no chance. Not just that they had no chance, but that they
had learned nada from their series against us. They surely had to have
learned that when it appears over that if you really want to prove
yourself to be one filled with courage and heart, overcoming injury or
what have you that you put in even more. It looked like the Sox simply
hadn't disovered that- or that they simply did not 'believe'.

Then for some inexplicable reason the light came on. They got onto first
base and subbed pinch-runner Dave Roberts in. After a couple of very
close calls in being thrown out between pitches he finally stole second
base and Bill Mueller got him home and tied it all up.

The Sox then had an opportunity to win it right there through several
flukey things (inparticular the bobbled play resulting in Damon reaching
first) but Orlando Cabrera reminded me of a lot of Angel at bats this
year and was rushed and over eager in hitting the ball instead of
selecting the right pitch and found himself out.

When the game went to extra innings it again appeared that the game
suited the Yankees- for the Red Sox bullpen simply wasn't up to scratch
according to the commentators. Yet they hung in there tough and
resilient and waited for an opportunity to strike. Several things could
have gotten them down and made them put their head down (the Pokey Reese
play being of particular highlight value- it was a great effort, but he
was simply unable to make the play), but for every bit of luck that went
against them, the Sox found a way to inspire themselves, especially
Orlando Cabrera making up for his poor at bat by one of the best diving
catches I have seen in a long time.

Finally at the bottom of the twelfth the commentators admitted that the
Sox had their greatest opportunity to win the game - Manny and Ortiz.
Manny hit a great little single to get himself on base and then came
Ortiz the Angel Killer.

Home run! Home run Home run! The game is over! Red Sox stay alive- only
this time it wasn't over the monster but the other side of the park.

Damn... What a game it was. I hate the Yankees almost as much as I love
the Angels and I think that the amount of guts, determination and just
out and out heart that each Red Sox player showed over the final few
innings of that game really made me appreciate and respect them. I just
hope for their sakes, as well as ours (the Yankee haters among us) that
it wasn't just an aberration or a classy 'final win of the season' game
for them. They get 16 hours to go home, sleep, rest up and head back to
Fenway Park for game 5.

I think we taught them a lesson that they needed to learn if nothing
else in our series with them. That being - Never give up no matter how
hurt you are or how bad the odds are, until the season is over you just
never know what you can achieve when you play your heart out.

GO RED SOX! Kill The Yankees!

Good work Angels. Rest up guys. RE-SIGN GLAUS!!

Obviously I need to proof read before I post. Of course, I meant Red Sox
vs Yankees. Smile DUH!

Or I should sleep more. Yep, 46 hours awake in a row studying for exams
doesn't do much for your brain except make it hurt! - and watching
amazing baseball games, doesn't help you relax either!
