There's audio commentary tonight (and indeed throughout the series) on
BBC 5 Live Sports Extra (but only through DAB, Satellite and DVB- not
online).

This is certainly good news- it will be interesting to see whether the
BBC have dispatched a commentary team to the US, or whether there'll
just be a relay of the US domestic radio coverage. I guess there'll at
least have to be something UK-specific during the ad breaks!

There was quite a bit of MLB coverage in the overnight shows on 5 Live
last week, so I imagine that the BBC have decided that there's enough
interest in baseball in the UK to do this sort of thing.

Hopefully if it gets good ratings they will do regular MLB games
starting April 2005.

Ben,

Thanks very much for your email - I'm glad that you're enjoying our
baseball coverage.

It's possible that we might cover the World Series again in the future.
However, we have no plans to cover any other baseball events at the
moment.

Thanks for getting in touch.

...and they both did a great job, from the bits I heard, tailoring the
commentary for an audience not necessarily familiar with the game.

As someone who finds much American radio commentary very hard to listen
to (very bald descriptions of the play, long periods of silence) it was
a real treat to hear a descriptive narrative of what's going on in the
ballpark (not just on the pitch), almost in a "Test Match Special" style.

No mean feat to keep talking continuously for 3+ hours with no breaks,
so well done guys!
