The Sox in the post-season looks like a real possibility.
But, the competition for the AL pennent is a tough road.
The damnyankees have won seven in a row with a sweep of
the Padres and move on to the Reds and the Pirates. Talk
about a weak schedule! But then the AL is feasting on
the NL.

Excuse me for correcting you again. Before tonight's
game they won 14 of the last 20 games.

Make it three with the White Sox this weekend, followed by
the O's (who are now 7-2 in interleague play - they wouldn't
have a winning record if it weren't for the opportunity to
play the NL), and then the White Sox come back to town.

I don't know what I liked the most about the bottom of the
seventh. Was it Marmol walking the first two batters and
hitting the next two to force in a run? Was it the grand
slam. Or was it Hinske stealing third to rub it in?
Seven runs on four hits (A homer, a triple, a double, and
a single) with two walks, two hit batsmen, and two errors
against three Cub relievers.
Gallagher did look great for the Cubs. He was not helped
offensively or defensively with Ramirez leaving 5 men
on base and with errors by Ramirez and Lee. He gave up
four hits, two walks, and an unearned run in six innings.
With the bullpen the Cubs have, there starters better be
ready to go the distance if they want to avoid being
swept in the next two series.
