And he still uses Cabrera in a game that is undecided.

I suppose they don't want to give up on Cabrera, and see him become the next
Guthrie, but I'm not sure what else to do with him. It's hard to occupy a
roster spot with a guy who serves no purpose when you're chasing a playoff
spot. If this were the NBA, they'd give him tendonitis and stash him on the
IR.

Maybe a lesson for people who want to rush Miller and others. Don't start
the options ticking until you have to.

I agree, but why use him in a situation that matters?

Wedge needing to see how Cabrera does in a situation
that matters today, is like me wondering if Tequila will somehow
not make me puke and act extra-special-stupid, like it did the
last 5 straight times I drank it.

It's real hard to argue that using Cabrera didn't cause this loss.
I mean, he blew the game.
Just let him be the Bat Boy, if they are worried about losing him this year.

Using Lee as a starter is becoming harder to accept, too.

But, the number of options open to Wedge when inserting
Caboomera are less than those when penciling in Lee.

Wedge made another tactical mistake tonight, and it caused an " L ".

I'm not sure how they can keep Cabrera around. He has no use, and he's
pitching for a team trying to make the playoffs. Maybe they'd regret losing
him in a couple of years, but I don't see much alternative now. This is his
3rd year. He can't get batters out. There was another guy that I thought had
great stuff. Ricardo Rodriguez, I think. They traded him to the Rangers, and
he never came back to haunt them. Different pitcher, of course, but
sometimes great stuff isn't enough.

Lee is tough. Sowers isn't doing well in AAA, and I'm not really sure that
there are any other options. If nothing else, hope that Byrd, Westbrook and
Carmona pitch well enough to relegate Lee to 5th starter. If he's eating
innings, a 5th starter like Lee isn't bad.
