Imagine the possibilities........

44,000 tushies at the park in DC yesterday. Imagine where Nos Amours
would be these days if they had attendences like that every few
weekends over the course of the last few years.

<sigh>

What happens when the novelty wears off and crowds in DC become sparse?

The novelty won't wear off this season - the Nats have sold the
equivalent of over 22000 full season tickets (adding together the full
season plans and the 41 and 20 game plans).

There won't be a game where less than 23000 seats are sold.

And note that all of this was done without an owner, most games not on
tv, no marketing plan to speak of, etc...

Is that what you mean by sparse?

Conjecture, at best. Let's have facts, not wishful thinking. At this
point (and yes, it's too soon to tell), the Nats have been a fabulous
success. Whoever buys them will likely have bucks to throw at free
agents and improve the team even more.

Let's have facts, not hateful thinking. You can predict the future better
than i?

Typical Quebec backwoods thinking, hoping for failure. No wonder so many
horrible things happened to the Expos.

Hateful thinking????? What the f*** are you talking about? Did I
predict the future? I said "will likely have....." Is that a
prediction? Read the posts before you respond.

Interesting.....since I don't live in Quebec. Hoping for failure?
Where did I state that? As I mentioned above, read my responses before
criticizing things I didn't even say or imply!

Nothing horrible happened to the Expos. What was horrible is what
happened to the few fans in Montreal - they lost a team. Let's face
it, the Ex-Expos are in much better shape now than they have been in
over a decade. They will "likely" (that's NOT a prediction) be sold
for significantly more than they would have netted in 2003 or 2004.
Recent articles peg their value at well in excess of double the $120
million that Loria was paid. The players are finally in a town where
they will remain for the foreseeable future. The team won't have to
travel to Puerto Rico to make a few extra bucks. Yada, yada, yada. So
as much as I wish Montreal had a financially stable and fan-supported
team, I'm sure the players are happy to finally have a place they can
call home. And let's be honest.......given their choice of playing in
the U.S. or in a foreign country, which do you think they'd prefer?

What happened to the Expos is they lost their French Canadian base when MLB
screwed themselves and killed
the Expos playoff run.

Give em credit. They knew when to walk away...

As for Washington, if they are such a bargain, where does this line form for
rich white guys to buy the team?

Time will tell. While Washington , logically , would be a better fit than
Montreal, simply because of attitude, our
beloved nations capital has a track record of losing two MLB squads......
