Another dismal line-up from the leader.

Griffey absolutely is killing this team
Line-up today should have Griffey in the 7 or 8 spot with Valentin in third.

What is wrong woth bringing up Bruce and platooning him with Griffey and
Dunn ?

This team is going nowhere. Looking good now but wait to the pitching
fails.
Last year they didn't have much to work with - this year they have some
talent but don't utilize it ?

Please keep this up. Everytime you do, Griffey gets an RBI.

And you want to hit Valentin 3rd??? And you think Dusty is bad.

so far this year - Anybody in major league baseball could do better in the
third spot than Griffey. Look at his numbers with men in scoring position
and men on base.

Pretend this is Griffeys first year as a major leaguer - look at what he's
done so far in the third spot ! Nothing - anybody else would have been sent
done to the minors. John

Usually when you talk about a platoon, you talk about players that
compliment each other's skills. A righty and a lefty or a catcher who can
hit with one who is a better catch and throw guy.

Exactly how do you platoon three lefty corner outfielders?

Why not just stick Bruce in center?

You know.....if this is how you post when they win 5 in a row, it's really
going to be a long season.

The box score says Adam Dunn threw somebody out at second? Did the dude fall
down and get hurt or something? Maybe pulled a hamstring?

Garko hit one off the wall and probably jogged for a while. Dunn fielded
the ball and threw a one hopper to 2nd to nail him.

Freel is a lousy CF. Dove for a ball that he had no chance to catch and
turned a single into a double. Then 2 balls skipped past him because he was
looking at the runners before fielding the ball. Luckily nobody advanced on
those two. Last week he wouldn't stay out of Griffey's way and it turned a
flyout into a triple.

Your right about Freel - bottom line analyst keep saying is he's better
suited for utility fill-ins.
Guess best solution is Bruce in center with Griffey being platooned with
Freel, Hopper, and Patterson.
If Griffey is staying here - needs to play about 4 times a week max.
Griffey has turned out to be a liability in the field, on base, and at bats.
Will he turn his batting around - I doubt it. If you've been watching him
this year, he has lost strength. His at bats are weak, his long ball is
gone, and his outfielding is way below average (check the catch-able ball
stats on ESPN).
I thought he was cancer on this team for the last 4 years - this year there
is no debate on this. He does draw fans from afar but his selfish play, lost
strength, and arrogant attitude is bringing down the team tremendously.
I hope Castellini sees the light real soon. John

Per the sortable player stats at mlb.com, selected NL players' batting
averages so far this season with men in scoring position:

Ken Griffey Jr. .257
David Wright .246
Todd Helton .244
Geoff Blum .240
Ryan Ludwick .238
Albert Pujols .237
Mike Cameron .235
Wily Mo Pena .231
Aramis Ramirez .231
Dan Uggla .231
Scott Hatteberg .214
Chris Duncan .208
Garret Atkins .204
David Ross .200
Jim Edmoinds .200
Mark Teixeira .200
Austin Kearns .196
Felipe Lopez .182
Geoff Jenkins .192
Willie Taveras .192
Jason Bay .188
Carlos Delgado .186
Adam Dunn .176

So why aren't you railing about Dunn? Oh, wait, unlike your favorite
whipping boys Griffey and Baker, he's a white guy. Take a hike you
ignorant bigot.

Norris Hopper .167
Ryan Zimmerman .128
Andruw Jones .031
Ty Wiggington .000
So Taguchi .000

Ah, what's the use?

Do you have some kind of a cite for this? I haven't heard anything
about anybody unhappy with Junior being on the team. To the contrary,
he's a high-character man who does a lot for charity is a true family
man.

It's true his performance on the field is sub-par this year (so far),
there's no denying that. But "cancer?" That's strong language.

It was actually a nice play by Dunn. Though I think Garko was
admiring his hit for a couple of seconds long enough to get thrown
out. That being said... I think his foot was on the bag first.... but
it had to give Adam a boost.

You obviously have no common sense or just never watch any Reds games.
I'm not racist whatsoever. Griffey doesn't and hasn't produced this year.
The majority of times he comes up with men on base when the Reds are tied or
losing - he doesn't sacrifice, nor drive in any runs.
Griffey is the only Red player that has no sacrifices in 5 years. Again, I
state he has lost a step, has the lowest percentage of catchable balls in
the outfield, has no zip on the ball when he's batting, and can't run from
second to home on a single. Wake up and watch the Reds sometime and you'll
realize stats don't mean a thing in the win/lost column. John

Your correct about the terminology 'cancer' but I'm only going to live so
long and I'm frankly tired of the smae ol ine - building for next year by
this organization. I 've lived here 50 years and this club is gotten worse
every year. Now Castellini states he's in this to win.
If thats the case - lets make some common sense moves and get this team to
the top.
I believe the talent is available. Lets put the best players at their best
position. Lets make a line-up that is strong and straightforward.
What we've seen so far is weak players, overpaid players, changing line-ups
that make no sense, crazy base running, and managers not doing their jobs.
This is not why I follow baseball.
Watching baseball is one of my favorite pasttimes and unfortunately fans get
hung up on stats and players personalities. These things don't win league
championships.
How many years down the road will the Reds have pitching like they do now ?
I say put out the best baseball players we have NOW and lets win it NOW.
Change is the toughest part of the game. John

How exactly do you conclude that stats don't matter? How are you going to
make a lineup that is "strong and straightforward" if you're not looking at
numbers to create those lineups? Most importantly, why am I even asking?
