| They are actually suspending Young for that? Are they joking? They have to
be joking.
What an injustice. A player can strike at you but you cant strike back and
if you do then you get suspended to. What is this? A prison yard?

It is only 1 start. The reason they do 5 games as a minimum for pitchers is
so they miss one start. Even then, they often push back their start by one
day to avoid missing a turn. He may not even miss a turn.

Moral of story: If you're a pitcher and a guy charges the mound with his
fists flying, the only way to avoid being ejected, fined, and suspended is
to stand there and let him kick your ass.
Oh well, at least MLB's fighting policy makes the same amount of sense as
their TV blackout policy. >> Stay informed about: Umm 5 games for Young? |

Which can still mess up a rotations drive.

The thing that everyone seems to be forgetting is that Young said
something to Lee that made him mad enough to swing at Young. THAT'S
what started the whole thing! I'd like to find out what Young said!
When asked, Lee seems to avoid a repy, apparently doesn't want to repeat
it. >> Stay informed about: Umm 5 games for Young? |

You have to suspend a pitcher 9 days for them to miss a start.
Young just received an extra days rest. >> Stay informed about: Umm 5 games for Young? |

Actually, what Peavy said started the whole thing.
He was just fined. >> Stay informed about: Umm 5 games for Young? |

Charged the mound? Young left the mound and approached Lee and words
were exchanged and then came the blows. If Young had stayed on the mound
and not provoked Lee with his comments nothing would of come of it. A
pitcher throws a rising fastball at a batters head walks off the mound
towards the batter and makes a comment to incite one of the most easy
going hitters in MLB and you want to blame the batter. Any time a player
takes a swing at another player regardless if he throws the first punch,
both parties will receive punishment. In this case Young got a slap on the
wrist. PItchers get a real break on this unless their relievers. >> Stay informed about: Umm 5 games for Young? |

He walked toward home plate, like all pitchers do when they hit a
batter to get another ball, and the idiot that got hit (Lee) ran his
mouth then took a swing. Young just defended himself. He is in no
way a "hotheaded" pitcher. When you get hit, take your freaking base
and shut your mouth. >> Stay informed about: Umm 5 games for Young? |

He could have run away - and become an object of ridicule for every
ESPN talking head and sports talk radio idiot from coast to coast.
"Look at the big sissy - he's 6-10, and he's running away like a
scared little girl!" Like it or not, pro sports is a testosterone-
fueled world, and when somebody throws a punch at you, you don't run
away. >> Stay informed about: Umm 5 games for Young? |
