This will be a real test of the Twins offense tonight in Boston.
Dice-K is a tricky pitcher, although he does walk quite a few. That
could bode well for the Twins if they can get their speedy runners
like Gomez, Casilla and Span on base.
Should be an entertaining series to watch.
Hopefully Baker can hold his own against the potent Boston
offense (having Ortiz out of the lineup should help....at least
a little).

This first game is pretty big -- if they can get Dice-K throwing lots of
pitches by not swinging at junk, they'll take a team with a worn out pen
from a long series in NY (that ended in extra innings) and stretch them even
further... a pen that has not pitched very well of late... it's the kind
of effect that could spill through the rest of the series if they make them
throw a lot tonight.

Well, at least it was a good game and it was pitched well by
both sides (well, except for Bass).
The Twins had the right idea in the first inning, making Dice-K pitch a
lot and taking walks to get on base. Too bad they couldn't do that
consistently the rest of the game.
Both teams had their chances, but the Red Sox managed to squeeze
out that late run to decide it.
I hope the rest of the series is like tonights game, that was some good baseball.

Yeah, no kidding. I think ESPN showed three Web Gems. Granted, it was a
little self serving since they had televised the game. But there was plenty
of good play in the game, no question.
All paled in comparison to the #1 web gem of Max Ramirez of the Rangers
getting leveled at home and then throwing out the runner at third anyway.

It felt like a playoff game -- great pitching, great defense, frustrated
hitters, a few jams gotten out of but mostly brisk, clean baseball and a
1-run difference.
Dice-K pitched great, Baker even better. Gardy went to the wrong guy in the
pen. Guess he felt like getting creative tonight? They've been spoiling
him recently...

Baker was fantastic. And then Gardy decides to bring Brian freakin
Bass into the eighth inning of a 0-0 game. Not Crain, not Guerrier.
Bass.
Dumb.
